Helpful Tips

Here are a few mattress shopping tips to help you get started on your “better sleep” adventure.

Comfort

When you come to Sleep Country, wear comfortable clothes. The best way to try out mattresses is to physically lie down on them in your normal sleeping position. Don't worry about taking off your shoes because we have foot protectors on the beds.

People tell us all the time, "I can't believe how different types and brands of mattresses feel!" That is why we don't sell mattresses on the Internet. If better sleep is your goal, you must "try them out."

We believe in convenience, so we have more mattress store locations than anyone else in Canada.

Size

Make sure you purchase a mattress that gives plenty of room for you and your partner to stretch and move freely. You'll thank us later because the more room you have, the less likely you'll bump into each other and wake each other up.

Support

Your new mattress should balance firm support and gentle conformity. The support should match your size and weight to keep your spine in the optimal, relaxed position. The soft upper layers of foams should cradle you and gently conform to minimize pressure points and add comfort.

Pressure Points

Pressure points are one of the biggest problems in older, "firm" mattresses. They can cause the typical sleeper on an older or too firm mattress to toss and turn up to 60 to 80 times per night... interrupting your deep sleep every time!

The mattress that's right for you will have enough padding to eliminate pressure points and can make an amazing difference in how rested you feel in the morning.

Durability

Mattresses are much thicker and heavier these days and you need a strong foundation to provide consistent support and enhance overall durability. Look for a foundation with shock-absorbing elements.

Keep in mind that a new mattress and foundation that are complementary will work together to provide the best sleeping experience and durability.

Price

Buy the best mattress your budget can afford; our financing options may help. There really is a difference in the quality of the materials and design as the price increases. Of the thousands of mattresses available, we have carefully chosen fifty or so models that truly represent great choice at every price level.

Our Sleep Experts can explain exactly what the differences are between each mattress, making it easier for you to choose. You'll never regret paying a bit more for "better sleep." It's a smart investment in your health.
